Please complete the online form at the button below, or download the forms to submit in hard copy, by August 31, 2016. Then, send payment to the Shaare Zedek office (212 W. 93rd St, 10025) within 30 days of submitting the form. Before completing the form, refer to the dues schedule below for membership categories and dues rates.
Membership Categories & Dues Rates - revised May 2016
Members play a critical role in sustaining and growing our community. We rely on dues to help meet our annual financial obligations, which exceed $450,000 for synagogue operations and total nearly $85,000 for the ongoing maintenance of Bayside Cemetery. Your dues pay salaries, heat and light our building, fund programming for adults and children, and ensure that a minyan is here when you need it.
Shaare Zedek uses a “fair share” dues system for membership based on household income. You will not be asked to disclose your income or submit any financial documents, but only to accept those dues that are applicable to you. We ask you to pledge as honestly and as accurately as possible. We are committed to ensuring that no one is excluded due to financial hardship. If circumstances prevent you from paying your dues in full, please contact Rabbi Jonah Geffen at email@example.com or 212-874-7005. Dues may be paid in installments. All dues information will be kept in strictest confidence.
New this year: Households joining under the standard membership category are now asked to choose a dues level within a range that corresponds with your income level, approximately between 1-2% of household income. One exception is that households making under $50,000 are eligible to pay minimum dues of $180. Moreover, student membership is now reduced to $36, and community memberships now include High Holiday tickets.
