Davening at Shaare Zedek

Friday Night

Friday night service times vary throughout the year according to the time of sunset. For this week's time, see the Services This Shabbat box to the left. Friday night services are generally held downstairs in our Social Hall (enter through the side door to the right of the synagogue). Services are followed by a light Kiddush, unless we are having one of our monthly communal Shabbat meals, which we hope you will stay for!

Shabbat Morning

Shabbat morning services begin at 9:30 am year-round, and are followed by Kiddush. We also have children's programming every Shabbat morning, with groups for children ages 0-6 and 7-12. For more information, visit our Children's Programming page.

Shabbat Afternoon

We are proud to be the only egalitarian synagogue in the area to hold Shabbat afternoon Minchah every week. Minchah times vary throughout the year according to the time of sunset. For this week's time, see the Services This Shabbat box to the left. Please join us for Seudah Shelishit (the third Shabbat meal) after Minchah, which usually includes a short text study. At the end of Shabbat we have a communal Ma'ariv and Havdalah. Minchah, Seudah Shelishit, Ma'ariv, and Havdalah are all held in our dowstairs Social Hall; enter through the side door to the right of the synagogue.

Getting Involved

Shaare Zedek prides itself on the lay-led character of our services, and we always happy to have new people participating in leadership roles during services. If you would like to participate, please contact the synagogue office (or just come up to one of the gabaiim on Shabbat) and we'll be happy to put you in touch with the right person.
