Learning for Elul, Part 3: Tzedakah
Saturday, September 12

Rabbi Geffen wraps up his three-part class during the month of Elul, a period of repentance and reflection that leads up to the High Holidays. This week, we gather after kiddush lunch to explore Tzedakah (Righteous Acts) and learn a piyyut (liturgical poem) for the High Holidays.

High Holiday Children’s Services
Monday, September 14 - Wednesday, September 23:

Children’s services will take place at the following times:

  • Rosh Hashanah Mornings, 9/14 & 9/15: 10:30 AM – 12 PM
  • Kol Nidrei, 9/22: 6:15 PM – 7:15 PM
  • Yom Kippur Morning, 9/23: 10:30 AM – 12 PM

We offer services for children ages 0-5 (Minyan Katan) and ages 6-12 (Minyan Gadol).

Parents are asked to pick up their child(ren) at the end of children’s services unless using babysitting services. If a child is not registered for babysitting, parents must supervise their children before and after children’s services.***

High Holiday Babysitting
Monday, September 14:

RSVP by 8/30 is required

  • Rosh Hashana Mornings, 9/14 & 9/15: 9:00 AM – end of sanctuary services
  • Kol Nidrei, 9/22: 6:15 PM – end of sanctuary services
  • Yom Kippur Morning, 9/23: 9:00 AM – end of sanctuary services
  • Ne’ilah, 9/23: 4:45 PM – end of sanctuary services

The fee for babysitting services is $25 per child per time slot. For questions about babysitting or to inquire about discounted pricing for siblings, please contact Hadar Schwartz at education@sznyc.org. To register, please click here.

Advanced registration is required for babysitting to ensure adequate supervision. If we do not receive sufficient requests, we will not be able to offer babysitting services. You will be notified by September 1st of the continued availability of babysitting.

Sukkah Decorating
Sunday, September 27: 10 am-12 pm

Help the community prepare for Sukkot by making colorful decorations and adding them to our Sukkah! Drop by any time between 10 AM-12 PM. Bagels will be served.

Supper in the Sukkah
Thursday, October 1: 5 pm

Join us for dinner and our yearly Sukkot social justice project! Cost is $7 per adult and $5 per child. Registration for this event will close on September 28th.

Children's Simchat Torah Celebration!
Monday, October 5:

Join us at 5:15 PM on Monday evening for special children's hakafot! You don't want to miss this yearly celebration!

Family Shabbat Dinner
Friday, October 16: 5:30 pm

Please join us for our first Shabbat Dinner of the season! Services begin at 5:30 PM followed by a delicious dinner catered by Seasons. Cost is $22/Adult, $10/Child, and free for children under 2!

Children's Theater Program
Saturday, October 17: 12:45 pm

Join us at our first kiddush program of the season, beginning at approximately 12:45 PM. All children are invited as we explore Jewish themes through drama games and theater activities.
