And Mordechai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the King Achashverosh, both near and far, to enjoin them that they should keep the 14th day of the month Adar, and the 15th day of the same, yearly, the days wherein the Jews had rest from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning into a good day; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, and of sending portions one to another (mishloach manot), and gifts to the poor (matanot la'evyonim). (Esther 9:20-22)
matanot la'evyonim - gifts for those in need
Fulfill the mitzvah of giving to needy Jews on Purim day by contributing to Shaare Zedek’s Matanot La'Evyonim Tzedakah Fund. This year, donations collected through this fund will be sent to Leket Israel. Please make your donation by noon on Purim Day (Thursday, March 21) to be included in the final tally.
mishloach manot - gifts for friends
Send a package of treats to any Shaare Zedek staff or member household. Each package will be accompanied by a list of all those who sent them mishloach manot. Please participate by the end of the day on Sunday, March 17. After that date, we cannot guarantee that your name will be included on each package's list of senders.
At this time we are no longer accepting new Mishloach Manot donations.
